While not specifically located in Las Vegas Valley, Las Vegas is the closest major city to Kiehl's Badwater Ultramarathon, which is referred to as the "most demanding and extreme running race on the planet." Why? Because it's a 135-mile non-stop run from Death Valley National Park -- the hottest, driest, lowest place on earth -- to Mt. Whitney, CA in temperatures up to 130F (55C).
